5 Smart Ways to Boosts E-commerce Store Sales

Over the last few years, I have dabbled in the e-commerce space and have owned a few different stores. Although finding things to sell takes a bit of digging into, the return can sometimes be substantial if done right.

With the eCommerce business being the fastest growing market projected to hit 4.058 trillion in sales in 2020, many have been stepping into this industry but get stuck along the way in various aspects, one being how to boost their sales. Just like Daren DeMatas rightly said, “Building an e-commerce business takes more than choosing a brand name, writing product listings, and starting to sell products online. Even the best business ideas can flop…”

This is something I have at times struggled with, and continue to work on to boost the revenues of my stores over the different quarters.

In the e-commerce industry, consumer habits change continually, and this is the reason why methods that once worked soon become obsolete. In other words, to continually gain new customers and generate sales, you just have to keep up with new trends. There’s no magic to it.

Having studied and analyzed the dynamics of the business and have used my connections to connect with some of the best in the industry, I have come up with easy and practicable tips that will help you boost your store sales.

Whether you’re entirely new to E-commerce or have been in the business for years, the tips I have shared here will hopefully work perfectly for you.

Smart Ways to Boosts E-commerce Store Sales

Here are 5 smart ways to boost E-commerce store sales:

  1. Simplify your checkout process
  2. Ensure that all buttons are functional, especially the back button
  3. Kill the idea of offering too many choices
  4. Put Email marketing to good use
  5. Use paid traffic

Simplify your checkout process

Simplifying your checkout process eliminates the friction associated with the “wear and tear” of potential buyers.

This practice is arguably one of the easiest and effective ways to boost E-commerce store sales. In fact, one company recorded about $300 000 000 increase in sales right after simplifying their checkout process. What did they do? They simply provided people with the option to check out as a guest.

Popular E-commerce sites like Apple, Nixon, Amazon and a few others use this tactic to greatly increase their conversion rate. You can see how they have done that comprehensively here. I love the way Catalin Zorzini, Founder of  ecommerce-platforms.com, has grouped these great sites up and explained every single step they’ve taken to set their checkout page right. He gives fantastic advice on what you should and shouldn’t do, for example he states, “one of the most common reasons for basket abandonment is forcing users to register their details before they checkout”. He then discusses how you can go about fixing it. I can hardly recall a time I’ve worked on a checkout page without making reference to his post for inspiration.

One of the most common reasons for basket abandonment is forcing users to register their details before they checkout.

Catalin Zorzini Ecommerce-Platforms

Other ways you can go about simplifying your checkout process:

  1. Reducing the number of form fields that customers need to fill in before checking out.
  2. Enabling checkout for un-registered customers (guest checkout).
  3. Keep the back button functional
  4. Offering too many choices
  5. Include a progress bar – This will greatly reduce the number of people that will back out of the checkout process. Knowing when the process will finish has a way of getting customers across the finish line.

These are really important tips to keep at the back of your mind at all times. Try them out on your store, and you’ll experience a rise in sales.

Ensure that all buttons are functional, especially the back button

Ask top level sale killers to put their arms up, and you’ll surely find resubmissions or automatic redirects sticking its arm highest. Less than a handful of customers will go ahead to restock the cart on your store once there’s a redirection and they lose their items. To avoid such situations, be sure to maintain a smart cart that will save customer items whether they navigate away from the cart or mistakenly follow a link out of the checkout page.  While this may seem too ordinary a task to make any difference to your store, I consider it one of the easiest ways to boost E-commerce store sales.

Kill the idea of offering too many choices

Kill the idea of offering too many choices

Not too long ago, Frank, a friend of mine asked me to help him take a look at his Shopify store. He complained of a decline in sales he had started to notice shortly after improving the mobile experience and adding extra products to his store. Immediately, I suspected the problem was from the new product categories he had added. I did some little tweaks here and there, and sales climbed up again. He had created the problem of choice unknowingly!

“Choice,” is a straightforward expression of free will, and customers love when they can find this expression. However, making too many choices available for customers could reduce sales. In fact, according to analysis carried out by Shopify: offering more products for sale will often get more people to visit your store but will cause very few to buy.

Well, you don’t necessarily need to take down your extra products if you already have them up. Simply sorting the products well enough to reduce the complexity associated with choice over a variety will boost your e-commerce store sales. Just categorize your products “seductively”. This tip worked for Frank, it will definitely work for you too.

Put Email marketing to good use

Email marketing is one of the most reliable and profitable ways to boost your E-commerce store sales.

It can be simple or complex (not difficult) depending on what E-commerce marketing strategies you apply. For example, you can simply get across to people who abandoned their shopping carts and get them to buy.

On the one hand, it could go as complex as preparing and putting out several campaigns that will work closely together to greatly improve sales. All the same, the aim remains to build trust with existing and all potential customers. Whatever be the case, there’re some great Email marketing apps you can use to make certain processes easier and smoother.

What we will look at here is the simple approach to growing your E-commerce store. To accomplish this, you need to have emails of people who have previously bought items from your store, or that are likely to buy.

If you already have an email list of customers (probably provided during the checkout process), that’s great! If you don’t (maybe because you’re new to the business), we’re still good but you’ll have to start by building a list. Here are 3 ways you can get people on your email list:

  • Use pop-up on your site that offers people a discount
  • Run ads targeted at selling a specific product.
  • Do giveaways with products related to what you sell on your store.

So, once you have got the email list, the next thing to do is sell the people on the list! Here are 2 ways you can go about that.

  • Upselling: This is the practice of encouraging customers to buy a comparable higher-end product. For example, if a customer bought an iPhone 6, you could upsell them to an iPhone 7 Plus.
  • Cross-selling: This is often confused with upselling, but they are two different things. Cross-selling involves selling products that go alongside products they have already bought. That is products that are complementary to previously bought items. For example, if someone has bought a tie, you can cross-sell them a pocket square.

If you plan on cross-selling, I recommend you start email marketing them a week or two after they buy a complementary product.

However, keep the words of Darren DeMatas on e-commerce marketing common pitfalls where he advised, “once you build a list of potential customers, resist the urge to blast them with generic sales promos!”, as this could turn them off. Darren offers a pretty detailed roadmap on the use of email marketing to boost sales on his website, be sure to check it out.

Once you build a list of potential customers, resist the urge to blast them with generic sales promos!

Darren DeMatas EcommerceCEO

Have it in mind that upselling takes a little more effort to close than cross-selling, as it requires some more convincing. You’ll definitely need some knowledge on building customer loyalty if you plan on upselling your customers.

In any case, these two methods will help you reduce abandoned carts, and go on to record fresh sales. However, as mentioned earlier, there’s more to Email marketing than I’ve discussed within the few lines above. If you’re looking to have all the nitty-gritty of Email marketing in your fingertips, there’s no better place to go than Ecommerceceo.

Paid Traffic

Most people have crossed out the idea of boosting sales via paid traffic from their to-do list based on negative stories they’ve heard. Stories of how people have spent loads of cash on paid traffic without getting any ROI. And frankly, paid traffic can be very expensive and yield you no result, but only if you’re going about it the wrong way.

If you heard of a machine that turns one dollar into more than $1, wouldn’t you invest in it? Paid traffic is such a machine, and you should invest in it. The reason lots of people lose their money through paid traffic is that they go all the way in without testing the waters!

What do I mean by “testing the waters”?  I mean spending little amounts of money running several campaigns to see which one makes the most hit, and then spending more on it.

“Spending anything within $20 – $50 on each ad variation is considered OK”

While running the campaigns and multiple ad variations, monitor the metrics to see which of them brings in the highest numbers. Once this is found, kill the rest and invest more in the winning campaign. This way, you will find boosting your E-commerce store sales more affordable and profitable.

That said, one other thing you should pay attention to while utilizing paid traffic is proper targeting. With advanced tools on great advertising platforms like Facebook, for instance, you can target people who are more likely to buy.

For example. Let’s say you sell T-shirts with stars from the TV series, Game of Thrones printed on them, and you want to run a Facebook ad to increase sales. The best thing to do is to target people who follow and like pages related to the TV series. The chances of selling are bound to be higher since the set of people already have an interest.

If your ads get to the right audience, there’s a higher chance of getting more bang for your bucks. You can generate tons of sales on your E-commerce store from Facebook ads, but there’s a lot to learn.

Conclusion

I love finding and trying out new ways to boost E-commerce store sales, skyrocket returns and build quality relationships with customers. And of course, ecommerceceo and e-commerce-platforms are two sites that help me achieve these.

I’ve tried out, and continue to use every tactic mentioned in this post extensively, and they work perfectly for me. If you put them to good use, they will work for you too.

Whether you’re entirely new to e-commerce, or you’ve been in the business and your sales are stalling, the way out is to try new tactics. Good thing you’ve come across this article through which I aim to help you explore practicable and highly effective methods that will increase sales on your E-commerce store.

Hopefully, reading this has provided you with the required skillset to achieve great results, all that’s left now is for you to get started.

Surely, there are several other smart ways to boost E-commerce store sales. Are there some you’ve tried that I’ve not discussed here? Which did you find to be most effective?

How to Quickly Analyze Backlinks before Buying a Website or Expired Domain

Whenever purchasing a website or an expired domain there are a lot of risks that need to be considered. One of the biggest is the exposure to a Google Penalty based on the sites backlink profile (penguin or manual un-natural link penalty).

In this article I will show you the 9 common kinds of backlink SPAM and how to quickly spot them.

For an even more in depth guide on performing due diligence before you purchase a website checkout https://www.motioninvest.com/buying-websites-for-sale/

With both my expired domain finding service and my recent focus on purchasing a couple of websites I have been deep diving into analyzing backlinks.

What is the Risk?

Several months ago I purchased a website which I knew had paid for a few links. I believe as a result of those links the site went from making close to $1,000 in the first month I purchased it(after making monetization changes) down to $250/month due to a penalty!

I was aware of the links and believed I priced the risk fairly into the purchase ($4k to buy the site)…unfortunately for me the site got hit pretty quickly after purchasing.

Analyze Backlinks before Buying a Website

What Happened When I Purchased a Website With a Few BAD Backlinks

The 9 Types of Backlink Spam

I use MajesticSEO(not an affiliate link) to analyze backlinks because of the graphic representation of the link profile which makes it incredibly easy to quickly see the quality of the backlink profile.

PART 1 – ANCHOR TEXT

Anchor Text manipulation is pretty easy to spot in Majestic SEO. Using the Anchor Text section there are 2 key things to look for..

  • First unnatural anchor text density
  • Secondly obvious SPAM in anchor text keywords (porn/poker/pharmaceutical or completely un-relevant keywords)
    • Unnatural Anchor Text Density
      • bedandbreakfastparksville.ca – Not as obvious an example but with the large number of links and only 3 different anchor texts this site shows clear signs of manipulation.Un-Natural Anchor Text Density
      • naturesgoldspecialties.ca – This one is very obvious, 95% all with the same keyword – avoid!all with the same keyword
  • Obvious SPAM in Anchor Text
    • classic-purse.com – This example is subtle! Often the spam is far more obvious with Porn/Pharmaceutical/Poker or other highly SPAMMED niches like PayDay loan anchor text. Whenever there are obvious signs of anchor text manipulation avoid it! In cases like the one below we need to ask ourselves if the anchor text could naturally occur in the way that it is being shown?Obvious SPAM in Anchor Text

PART 2 – LINK METRICS

  • Large difference Trust Flow to Citation Flow – Links build naturally should be balanced between citation flow and trust flow (or for MOZ PA/DA should not show a large (~3x or more) difference between them)
    • bushybride.ca – Here there is an obvious mis-match with Trust Flow = 2 and Citation Flow = 15. Ideally we want that ratio to be close to 1:1 but anywhere up to 1:3 can naturally occur but be cautious whenever you get below 1:2 Trust:Citation.

mis-match with Trust Flow to citation Flow

  • Root to URL completely different – This one is often miss-understood. When there are good metrics for one domain and then none for another it often means that links were intentionally built to one URL and then none to another. This represents link manipulation!

Root to URL completely different

    • goteamintraining.com – Here the metrics on the Root Domain are ok but then the metrics at URL are non-existent!

metrics on the Root DomainVS…

metrics at URL

  • Concentration of Links on the TF vs CF Map – This is one of the reasons why Majestic is so great. A quick look at the TF vs CF graph can tell a lot about the backlink profile. The ideal graph is a series of domains spread along the line moving 1:1 from the origin. Two indications of a SPAMMY backlink profile is when there is an unreasonable concentration of links all in one location or when all the links are low trust. On the graph each dot represents a single link and the Trust and Citation score of that link.
    • whoswhere.ca – In this example shown below there are 2 concentration and another grouping along the bottom representing Trust Flow on each of those links of ZERO. Typically what occurs is when a link building service is purchased a lot of the links will come from similar sites with the same CF/TF which results in concentrations on the TF vs CF graph.Concentration of Links on the TF
    • bedandbreakfastparksville.ca – Here there is one single high density concentration of links, there is a chance with this link profile that it could occur naturally but this is a warning flag. Whenever there is a single concentration of links on the TF vs CF graph there is a reasonable expectation that the links are artificially created. Large consentration

PART 3 – TYPE OF LINKS

  • Non-Relevant Link Pages/Directories/Blog Network Pages
    • legal-professionals.net (non-relevant links) – Non-relevant backlinks like the ones to this site provide no value.
    • trendier-diaper-bags.com (directory) – Here is an example of a site that only uses directory links. Relevant human-reviewed directories are good but having only non-relevant free  directories are bad!
    • nadafhospitality.com (directory) – Here is another example of too many low value link/directory pages.
    • howtotreatkidneystones.net (PBN & Hacked Sites) – Sometimes most metrics can look good but when you visit the pages linking to it it becomes obvious the links are all blog network links or sites that have been hacked.
    • kitchenexhaust.info (SPAM sites) – When the sites linking to the URL are only SPAM sites then it is obvious the site provides no value and should be avoided.
    • theweddingdiamonds.info (non-relevant directories) – Again relevant directories and link pages can be natural however, low value directories as shown by these links are bad.
    • whoswhere.ca (Blog Network) – There is the famous quote from Judge Potter Stewart stating in regards to Porn vs art “I know it when I see it” and this applies to most of us who look at websites and can quickly determine if the site is built only for links or not. When the majority of the links pointing to a domain was clearly built for the purposes of providing a link, like in this example, we should avoid it.
  • Blog Comment or Forum SPAM
    • allhandbags.info (Forum) – Blog comments and forum SPAM are old low value black-hat tactics that still many domains have links from. In these cases it is important to look at the comment and forum post and just think if it is reasonable. Blog comments and forum links that are real are fine, blog comments and forum links that are only left for the purpose of the link are bad! Another fast way to tell is to see if there are A LOT of useless comments on the post…if that is the case then the site likely has auto-approve comments on and has been hammered by low-value black hat SEOs.
  • Foreign Language Links
    • fantastic-bags.com – Here is an example of english links on foreign language websites. This is almost always a sign of link manipulation and if spotted should be avoided.

Summary

Most of the instructions above are pretty obvious. The intent of this post with the videos was to hopefully show a nice effective way to quickly determine the quality of the backlinks pointing to a site. Using MajesticSEO daily is a huge time saver for me and I wanted to share some of the tricks I have learned analyzing thousands of domains and dozens of sites over the last few months.

What other tools do you use to analyze a sites backlink quality? Ahrefs? OpenSiteExplorer? other?

Required Time: 2-3 Hours (If you follow these steps accordingly)

Hope you will enjoy this tutorial on how to make a WordPress website or great looking personal blog (for your own business).

Since you are going to build a WordPress site, you must be certain about one thing that you will use a software called WordPress to build it. This is the best and most used way to make a responsive and stunning website.

Actually, WordPress has two different versions. WordPress.com and WordPress.org.

First one is the official version where you can create your blog or website after purchasing a plan. They offer free blogging with [WordPress] subdomain, that means when you create a free blog with any name for example “Myblog”, then your website address will be www.myblog.wordpress.com.

If you want full control and customization over your website, without purchasing a WordPress.com plan, then you have to choose WordPress.org. Also, need to learn how to make a WordPress website by yourself.

So in this tutorial, we are going to use the open source WordPress version (.org) which is completely free to use. Remember that although the software is free you have to purchase the Domain Name (your website name) and Web Hosting (stores your website files and keep the website alive 24*7*360 days)

Note: First we need to buy two most important requirements to make a WordPress site.

#1. Website Hosting

  • Website hosting is a place or cloud computer where your website will be installed and it will make sure that the website is available on the internet 24 hr/360 days.
  • Initial Cost: can vary between $1.41 – $12.94 per month.

#2. Website name

  • Website name (also known as a domain name) is the name and address of your website where people can find it. For example, my website name is rankwordpress.in. When you search this name on Google you will find my website on the result.
  • Initial Cost: can vary between $0.95-$15 per year.

How To Make A WordPress Website From Scratch

(Step 1): Choose a website hosting

Now we will start by choosing a web hosting. When you are going to buy a hosting make sure you know about the reliability and speed of that hosting. In this tutorial, I’m using Hostgator because it’s affordable, reliable, provides great service and avilable worldwide.

Some more good reasons why I choose Hostgator:

  • Excellent website speed and reliable web hosting with 99.99% server uptime guarantee.
  • Unlimited monthly website visits.
  • Unlimited server storage for your website & emails.
  • Stunning expert support 24*7 (360 days).
  • Here you can see the Awards & user reviews of Hostgator.

(It’s not necessary to always use Hostgator, there are a couple of great hosting out there like Bluehost and MilesWeb etc. You may choose any one of them either.)

Hostgator offers two types of hosting. Depending on your budget limit you need to choose the suitable one. First, visit the Hostgator Official Website. You will know about both the hosting services as we go further.

#1. For minimal budget: Starting at $2.75/month

  • Shared Web Hosting

#2. For Standard budget: Starting at $4.95/month

  • Cloud Web Hosting

1. Shared Web Hosting

Simply Shared hosting stands for multiple websites is sharing resources of a single web server. Due to multiple sharing of server resources shared hostings are comparatively slower managed hostings. However, they are perfect for a new blog site or any kind of small business website that has low traffic and low budget.

Later, when the website starts to get enough traffic you can easily migrate to any other cloud or managed hosting plan in any time. To get a shared hosting from Hostgator you need to proceed with the following instructions.

how-to-make-a-wordpress-website-with-hostgator-shared-hosting-plan
HostGator-shared-web-hosting

Go ahead and select the Hatchling Plan from the plan list.

how-to-make-a-wordpress-website-plan-to-make-a-wordpress-site
Hostgator-hatchling-plan

In this Hatchling Plan you will receive:

  • One domain name capacity.
  • One click WordPress Installer
  • Unlimited Bandwidth (Unlimited visit per month)
  • Free SSL certificate (encrypted connection with https://)
  • 24/7/365 Phone, LiveChat, Email Support
  • 60% off on apply Coupon Code

I don’t recommend you to use BABY or BUSINESS plan because at the start you don’t need additional features and you won’t need anytime soon.

2. Managed Web Hosting

Unlike the shared web hosting managed hosting offers one-on-one service to every single package. Due to low-density servers, premium hardware, and multiple caching layers, you will experience 2X faster website loading time with improved performance.

Managed web hosting is recommended for reliability, scalability, and flexibility of a business website despite having lots of workloads starting from sales to promotions. To choose the managed hosting plan:

how-to-make-a-wordpress-website-managed-web-hosting-hostgator-2
managed-web-hosting

Go ahead and select the Hatchling Cloud plan.

how-to-make-a-wordpress-website-hatchling-plan-from-cloud-hosting

In this Cloud Hatchling Plan you will receive:

  • One domain name capacity.
  • 2 Core CPU power & 2 GB RAM memory (help your website load even faster)
  • One click WordPress installation.
  • Unlimited bandwidth & unlimited email.
  • Free SSL certificate (encrypted connection with https://)
  • 24/7/365 Phone, LiveChat, Email Support.

Again in case of cloud hosting it’s recommended to use the Hatchling Cloud rather than Baby and Business cloud.

(Step 2): Order Domain Name and Hosting

1. Order Your Domain name

Once you decided which hosting plan you will use, the next step will be purchasing a domain name for your website. While choosing a name for your website either you can target a low competitive but higher volume meaningful word or a self-created a unique name.

Think about a name which will be easy to remember, understandable and most importantly describe your WordPress site. For example, my blog’s name is RankWordPress.in. Rank for achievement and WordPress for the software most of the people use to build a website. That means my website share tools & tutorial on how to make a WordPress site that help you rank faster on Google.

Recommended article: 7 Tips To Come Up With Creative Blog Names

Once you get the idea, put that name on the field ‘Enter Your Domain’ to check if the name of your choice is available to use or not. Also, select the prefix (.com/.org/.in etc).

2. Apply Privacy Protection (optional)

In case you want to protect your personal information and privacy you can apply for domain privacy protection while purchasing the domain name. Check or Unchecked to alter your choice.

Here is the example for your concern:

3. Order The Selected Hosting Plan

Since you have already chosen which plan you are going to use so in this step you need to buy that plan. To buy the plan simply select the following:

Package type: Hatchling (As mentioned earlier hatchling is enough to create a new website)

Billing Cycle: Select 36-month package ($2.75/month). It’s a pretty good deal for a 3-year subscription. And getting it for 3 years will make sure that the website goes on a long run.

Username: Provide a username that you can always remember and it will be required in the future when you have to access your hosting panel.

Security PIN: Pick a numerical PIN and take a backup note of the pin. The PIN will help you verify account ownership when contacting Hostgator Customer Support.

4. Provide Your Billing Information

When plan selection is done, fill up the billing information. If you have a credit card then use that or use PayPal (if you have). For Indian user, The Hostgator Indian version will allow using Debit Card to complete the transaction.

how-to-make-a-wordpress-website-billing-info-hostgator

Fill all the billing information correctly.

5. Add Additional Services

These additional services are optional. You may choose them according to your wish.

Free SSL: The SSL certificate will be activated on your website for free. So you don’t have to check that box or it will come checked by default.

Site Lock Monitoring: This is a monitoring service that checks your website on a daily basis and immediately notifies you about any hijacking or malicious code inside your website. This service is highly recommended by them but you may skip them if you wish to use any other WordPress plugin.

Professional Email: Provides you the professional email address with your domain name as a prefix. For example support@www.rankwp.in. My recommendation is to keep it unchecked.

CodeGuard Backup: It’s an insurance for your WordPress site. This service automatically backup your website files and databases with a 1-click action. You can add a schedule according to your choice.

HostGator SEO Tool: Since you are going to integrate some powerful SEO tools with your website, that’s why you don’t need to buy this tool from Hostgator.

how-to-make-a-wordpress-website-additional-feature-of-hostgator

6. Enter Coupon Code

Few times in a year Hostgator offers up to 70% off deal. Mostly these kinds of offers come during New Year, Black Friday, Cyber Monday etc. If you are lucky enough to get started with a more than 50% off hosting deal then in the Coupon Box there will be a code automatically which you can apply to get the discount.

7. Review Order Details

Once you are done with the above part it’s time to recheck your order. In this review section, you can verify the details of services and hosting package you are going to buy. Make sure that each and every service you have selected to buy are really necessary for you.

how-to-make-a-wordpress-website-review-order

Since this amount is for 3 years so you don’t have to pay any bills for the next 3 years. What I believe that $105 deal for 3 years is a pretty much good deal to buy your hosting. Now go ahead and click on CHECK OUT option and complete your transaction.

Once you have completed it you should get a quick payment confirmation message and new Password from Hostgator (billing@hostgator.com) to their customer portal.

(Step 3): Login To Your Customer Dashboard

Follow the link from the Email you have received from Hostgator right after the Checkout process. Enter the email address that you have registered with Hostgator and your Password. (If you don’t know where to put Emal and Password find LOGIN or SIGN IN link )

5. Permalink Settings

Permalink setting is a very important part, especially for SEO. Permalinks are the address of the pages inside your website. After publishing a page, if for any reason the permalink got changed, then that page can’t be obtained through that link anymore.

This will harm your website’s Google indexing and the page ranking on Google will drop. When page ranking will go down you will certainly get lower traffic. The most recommended permalink models are,

permalink-setting

(Step 10): Add content to your page

Before starting to create valuable contents for your visitors, you have to decide what kind of content you are going to deliver them. These two questions will arise:

  1. Should the visitors be allowed to comment under the content?
  2. Will you often update the content?

If the answer to both questions is ‘YES’ then you need to create ‘post’ instead ‘page’

Post: Posts are blog entries that shorted by newest order. They are shown on your website according to that newest order. Post are variable that means they are often updated for many reasons from time to time.

Page: Page contains static contents. That’s why we use contents like privacy policy, contact page which don’t need to change often. Comments are disabled on a page.

1. Create a post

To create a post go to ‘Post’ > ‘Add new’

    • Add Title: In this place, you have to add the article name.
    • Start Writing: Start writing is a text block, where you can start writing your article. (You can switch to another module using the ‘+’ icon)
